2007 WSOP Begins June 1st

June 1st is the new independence day for poker players, as the 2007 World Series of Poker is set to kick off at the Rio hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Thousands of people with entirely too much money will be descending on Sin City with cards in their hands and hopes of turning a few full houses into a fistful of $10,000 bricks and a shinny trinket for their wrists.

The WSOP bracelet of course is the holy grail of all home game players and pros that have not held all the chips at the end of one of the tournaments. It's a sign to all other players at the table to give immediate respect to the gentleman (or lady) in the six seat that just check raised on the river.

Starting with the $5,000 Mixed Hold Em' tournament (limit and no limit) new stars of the game will emerge and online news outlets like Pokernews.com will be there to satisfy those us who will be plunking at their keyboard while working their nine to fives.

If you're inclined to throw down a mortgage payment or two at a chance for some nifty jewelry, here's a link to Harrah's WSOP pre-registration page. Below is from Harrah's website explaining the terms and conditions of entering. Good luck!
