BBT3: Event #1 Big Game for a Fisch
The Battle of the Blogger Tournaments v. 3.0 got off to a smashing success this week with the first two events now in the books.
105 bloggers, readers, and Full Tilt pro 2-time World Series of Poker bracelet holder Scott Fischman divvied up a $75 token or direct buy-in to Miami Don's "Big Game". So named because the tournament has the biggest buy-in of all the event on the schedule According to Al's site the previous record prize pool hovered around $4K, and this one nearly double the previous mark.
Some bloggers have expressed concern about "the pro" playing, but really these tourneys are about getting the writers and readers together for some good competition. In the end it was Fischman taking the first BBT3 seat to the Tournament of Champions after defeating cmitch of O-Poker heads-up. Personally I managed to hover around the starting chip stack and ran KJo into Aces with a button steal (we'll leave out the part about flopping the nut straight and losing to a runner-runner higher straight because I'd hate to owe $1 to all the readers here for telling a bad beat story that really isn't one).
Next up is "The Hoy" $26 tourney that ran last night with nearly identical numbers as the "Big Game" in its usual 6-max NLHE format. I'll throw the results of that up in my next post. Tonight $12+$1 "Skillz" tournament and you'll be forced to remember some door cards while playing Stud Hi.
