BBT3 Thoughts From a Losing Player

BBT3 Thoughts From a Losing Player

The writing on the wall has shouted loud and clear about my participation in the Battle of the Blogger Tournaments part trey sponsored by Full Tilt Poker.

"Thanks for the donations"
"Money down the drain"

As we closed another fun filled week of getting my money bad, or good but just not able to avoid untimely river cards, I added another $25 onto the ever increasing tab for these tourneys. The knockout tourney Tuesday night has Stud 8 making a rare appearance somewhere besides a H.O.R.S.E game and I managed to Squeak into the points thanks to a very bad display of aggression when we got down to two tables when two way draw went nowhere fast.

The Mookie however provided a small ray of light as I made it down to four tables when this week's presentation went over the century mark again in participation. Sadly, I ran my Aces into a turned flush while trying to juice some value. Which brings up the following poker strategy question:

If you assume your opponent will fold to a 3-bet/push all-in with Aces pre-flop and would increase your stack by 1/3rd, is it right to do so? Another assumption to the question is that you are a little under par but with a decent "M" and not worried about getting blinded off. Risky play proved to be my undoing this week, but I figured myself for a decent finish should my aggression/trap would have worked versus ending up whining about another bad beat and owing the collective blogger community a dollar for listening.

Hoy's 6-max bingo-rama will start off the fresh week of the BBT3, which currently shows Waffles holding a decent lead on the field for April Player of the Month honors (and a little $2,000 WSOP package to boot for winning).
