Birthday Boy Gets Runner-Up Prize: Medic Tops Bloch in Event #1

Nenad Medic decided he wasn't in the gifting mood at the final table as he defeated birthday boy Andy Bloch for the first and his first 2008 World Series of Poker bracelet. As described yesterday here, the final table was a huge mix of known big name pros who play live and online.
Included in the final table was the newly minted Full Tilt Poker pro Patrik Antonius (seventh place), and voice of the World Poker Tour Mike Sexton
(fourth place). Along with the bracelet, Medic received $794,112 for first place which I'm sure he'll treat Andy Bloch to birthday cupcake or drink even though the runner-up Bloch took home $488,048.
Three events are currently on the floor as day two is off for the massive $1,500 NLHE Event #2. This event broke the record for attendance of a non-Main Event WSOP tourney as 3,929 players are shooting for a first-place prize of $831,462. Also on tap today is Event #3 $1,500 Pot-Limit Hold Em' and $5,000 Mixed Hold Em' (which varies between No Limit and Limit as Haley Hintze explains the format from Pokernews.com's live reporting:
Each level in this event lasts for 60 minutes, and during the first 30 minutes of any given level, the game will be (fixed-) limit hold'em, with the blinds being those listed in the "Betting Structure" listings at right. For the second 30 minutes of each level, however, the format switches over to no-limit hold'em, and the blinds drop to half of the level of the first half of each hour, to compensate in part for the much higher pots that a no-limit collision can produce.
