champion, Maxim magazine hottie, and more importantly one of the original Full Tilt.com pros was on hand to christen event number six of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series. This was the first event on the series to carry the weight of a one million dollar guarantee. With a buy in of $300+$22 it was quite the return on investment for all the runners with a potential $200,000 plus payday. But, with a sizable guarantee comes a sizable field to overcome, as the FTOPS V once again treated its minimum prize pool as a benchmark and 4,372 players decided they wanted to play for more pushing the final tally to $1,311,600 with $231,615.44 going to first place.
313OG proved that yes indeed, pocket aces do win once in a while, as second place finisher akaginsf found a pair of ladies at the wrong time but managed to take down $140,210.04 for the cooler.
Check out the Full Tilt.com blog for details on 313OG's huge win, a small snipet of the final hand is below:
FTOPS V's No-Limit Hold 'em event #6 featured 4,372 entrants and a first prize worth more than $231,000, giving the top two finishers a lot to fight for. With so much money on the line, both players started out conservative, trying desperately to protect their chips. But once 313OG won a few hands and started to sense the end was near, he got aggressive, stealing the big blind and betting at smaller pots until akaginsf had only one move - all-in. Unfortunately, the timing of akaginsf's pocket Queens couldn't have been worse, as 313OG held pocket Aces for the championship and $231,615 in first-place prize money.
