Fossilman Takes Down Event #6
Filed in archive Internet Poker on September 18, 2007
Tonight I'm watching the World Series of Poker on ESPN with the 2007 Main Event ticking down to the final few tables as celebs who made the money like Sully Erna and Tobey Maguire are receiving their spoils from the cashier window.
Before they start showing the hole cards and Scotty Nguyen toasting the table with his Michelob's there's an entrance montage of former WSOP Main Event champs on the various casino video boards. One of those champs, Greg Raymer, otherwise known as "Fossilman" on PokerStars, managed to take home another title yesterday as he won the sixth event of this year's World Championship of Online Poker. With 772 runners, 1062 re-buys, and 544 add-ons for this $320 event, gather up a $168K first place prize for the 2004 Main Event champ.
He went to the final table as a commanding chip leader, but the bane of online poker (besides being rigged of course) is the dreaded disconnect. For quite some time Fossilman was unable to take advantage of his huge chip stack, but managed to get things straight with the cable company quickly enough to take home his first WCOOP bracelet.
For an interview with the champ, drop by PokerStarsBlog.com for Greg's always gracious interviews. Listed below are the final table cashes:
