FTOPS VII: Event #8 and #9 Hosting Duties Put Aside for Winner Lindgren
Although Poker is considered cut-throat competition, you can rest assure while playing in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series, your chances of ending up like hockey player Richard Zednik yesterday are extremely slim. Just keep the sharp objects out of reach when bubbling with pocket Aces.
Yesterday saw off two more FTOPS VII events with the $120+$9 NLHE 6-max knockout and a $300+$22 NLHE tourney with a one million dollar guarantee. Both events had unusual happenings: The number eight event (6-max Knockout) saw its cap reached as 6,000 players crammed into Full Tilt's server to play and no one else was admitted. Something usually reserved for freerolls, I can't remember the last time I'd seen a higher stakes tournament reach its cap or get near it for that matter. Nonetheless, "Sleepy_Hippo" stayed awake long enough to plow through this monster field and took home $114,612 for his nocturnally troubled namesake.
Event nine the $300+$22 NLHE tourney also saw a huge field of 5,637 blast through the guarantee and staked a $1.69 million prize pool to be shared by 738 players. Hosted by long time Full Tilt pro Erick Lindgren who found his account stuffed this morning not for appearing in a commercial but because he won his own tourney! $291,748.57 is the exact amount he took home for winning the event. Not sure if this is a first, but its certainly a welcome sight to see one of their own do so well.
Up today are the $1,000+$60 NLHE 6-max and $200+$16 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo events.
