Glum to Glam? WSOP 2008 Event #15 and #16

"Glum Girl" Svetlana Gromenkova (as coined by Wicked Chops Poker and pictured above) cracked her first smile of the tournament as she took the bracelet in Event #15 $1,000 No Limit Hold Em'Ladies World Championship. Gromenkova went wire-to-wire for the title as she entered the final table with the chip lead, and took runner-up Anh Le's last chips with pocket kings that found a third on the turn to turn away the Ace-Rag army's futile attempt to crack her hand with an ace on the river. $244,702 in first place prize money will hopefully give her something to smile about. Final table write-up at Pokernews.com from Amy Calistri found here.
Andrew Brown only had to get through heads-up play against five-time WSOP bracelet holder Ted Forrest and two time Omaha bracelet holder Scott Clements to take his first bracelet and $226,483. Chalk up big ups for the first time winner of Event #16 $2,000 Omaha Hi-Lo tourney. Pokerlistings.com found Andrew to chat up about his victory and playing against a legend like Forrest, follow the link here.
And in lesser WSOP news, I won't be joining those currently at the Rio for the main event as I went out eighth in the Bodog Blogger Tournament of Champions last night. Kings no good versus Ten-Eight offsuit, and no I am not paying a dollar for the bad beat story.
