Is Poker Still Growing?
With the astronomicallinks growth of poker over the last few years, many people wonder if it will continue to grow and if it is still growing now. According to the poker pages.com industry index, poker has grown a staggering 400% since 2001. The biggest month of poker in history occurred last year in July 2005 when tournaments buy-ins soared to a record $77 million. This is a larger number than for the entire years tournament buy-ins for all of 2001. Currently poker is continuing to grow at a healthy rate and I expect this years WSOP main event to have over 8000 entries with a first place prize of $10 million.
