Jesus Rises on the Third Try: NBC Heads-up Champion

You hear the phrase "third time is a charm" in many different context, from sports to marriages to having a third kid that doesn't grow to earn his/her notoriety based on how his/her police record is.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson made it to the final table of the first and second NBC National Heads-up Championship. He walked away with a runners-up check (valued at $250,000 which to most people is a good spot of money), but didn't get the fancy, crystallized trophy proclaiming him to be the best heads-up player of the tournament. I'm sure after this weekend's victory in the same tourney that eluded him twice before, people will be picking him on their brackets for next year.

Ferguson was joined by fellow Full Tilt pros Andy Bloch (runner-up), Huck Seed, and Phil "I just won a WPT title" Ivey in the money as this was a marketing dream for the number two online poker site. National television coverage and four tough pros weaving thru an elite field hopefully mean more fishies for the Full Tilt pool of players. After this weekend's downturn I could use some weaker competition.
