Live Poker Question
Filed in archive Poker Strategies on September 22, 2007
Recently I got the green light from the wife and kids to hobble (bad knees from playing softball, and one too many hip checks taken during hockey games growing up) down to Canterbury Card Club in Shakopee, Minnesota for some live poker action. Its true that once you feel the cards and riffle chips between your fingers it gets harder to double click the Full Tilt or PokerStars icon on your laptop and fire up a couple of tables.
As I wrote a trip report on my other blog, there was another hand I'd like a few readers to give their fifty cents on because value betting in limit hold em' for every Big Bet possible is crucial to taking home a profit. Because if you can't maximize a no-brainer like the hand I'm about to describe then how will you do when you're card dead?
Please comment how you'd play on each street.
$3/$6 Limit Hold Em'
9 players at the table
Hero raises one off the button with KK
Knowledgeable player with iPod on the button reraises with ??
Folded to SB who is very very new to the casino setting and shakes when holding a premium hand, he 3-bets
Hero caps
iPod calls
Shaky guys calls
Flop: K 2 4 rainbow
Shaky leads out (do you raise or call here?)
Turn: 8 (completes rainbow)
Shaky leads again (do you raise or call here?)
If you call, and iPod raises (do you 3-bet?)
River: 2
Thank you for any advice you can provide a LHE novice!
