Phil Helmuth and Shane Schleger are Day 1 Chip Leaders

Nine time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth and Shane "Shaniac" Schleger are the day 1 chip leaders in the WSOP $1000 no limit holdem with re-buys tournament. Play was wild and loose during the re-buy period led by Daniel Negreanu and his 48 re-buys. Sixty-one players will enter day 2 of play led by Schleger and Hellmuth with 109,700 and 109,600 in chips respectively, Helmuth is obviously a house hold name on the poker circuit, but Schleger has quietly had a break out year. "Shaniac" built his reputation as an outstanding Internet tournament player and has recently entered the big buy-in tournament scene this year. To learn more about Shane, check out his blog.
