Poker: Easier When You Can See All the Cards?
Filed in archive Internet Poker on October 20, 2007
On your honor.
Many things in poker are based on a person's word. A debt, to "play behind" while the action is going on at the table. A stake, to play off someone elses money to pay back a percentage of winnings after the tournament or cash game is done.
Unfortunately, it appears someone at Absolute Poker has gone behind the scenes and created a furor over cheating honest poker players (oxymoron, you decide) out of a fair deal at the poker tables. The superaccount debates have been steadily growing since bloggers and players at forums like 2+2 and PocketFives have their higher stakes players going over hands they've played against the suspected superusers that could view all the hole cards while the game was in play.
This is not the type of thing online poker needs while the UIGEA rules are being hammered out, and if Absolute wants to be a part of a probable legal online poker environment they need to step up and acknowledge what happened, refund moneys if warranted, and take responsibility for the breach in their secure games.
Or say goodbye to the recent swell of players coming with the UltimateBet/Absolute partnership.
Hat tip to Wicked Chops for finding unicorn pics and their usual excellent reporting on the situation.
