PPA Sends A Plea To Congress
Filed in archive Poker Laws on May 2, 2008
With the recent hearing on the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act tilting the scale towards the players since banks are rightfully more interested in solving the sub-prime mortgage crisis versus playing police, its time drive the dagger home. The chairman's email is asking for PPA members to send a form letter to their congressmen and women to get the message out that this law is doing nothing progressive and would tie up resources better used elsewhere.
Here's the letter below, with a link to the pre-drafted letter for your state's Senators and Representatives:
As the Chairman of the Poker Players Alliance, I cannot stress to you enough how important it is for you to make a stand today for poker. By clicking the link below you will be telling Rep. Jim Ramstad, Sen. Norm Coleman and Sen. Amy Klobuchar to roll back the Unlawful Internet Gaming and Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and to support H.R. 5767, which will effectively overturn the UIGEA once and for all.

Whether you play for match sticks or millions, your right to play is under constant attack from out of touch and misguided politicians in Washington DC. It is critical that you take a moment and let them hear your opinion, because I can assure you our opposition does it every day! Your response counts and I appreciate your taking the time to express your support for the game we all love.
By clicking the above link, you will be directed to a page on our website that generates letters for you to send to your representatives in Washington, DC. We have provided text that will let them know that you support H.R. 5767 and its efforts to do away with the UIGEA. You can also add your own personal message. It will take less than 60 seconds!
Thank you for your support.
Proud to Play Poker,
Alfonse D'Amato

I just can't believe the Washington legislature would make playing online poker a Class C felony. Unbelievable.
