The Aussie with a Greek name brought all the chips, but someone else took home the big cash. With a final table lead that dwarfed the other stacks at the Aussie Millions 2008 final 7, Michael Chrisantholpoulos (say that three times really fast) looked primed to take home the $1.65 million Aussie Bucks for the winner of the Main Event.
But, Erik Seidel and Alexander Kostritsyn had other plans. While chipping up from eliminating several players at the table, Kostritsyn took a 2:1 heads up chip lead after taking out Chrisantholpoulos with pocket tens versus Ace-six suited preflop and nothing improved for either player. Chrisantholpoulos had to settle for $700,000 which is a decent payday for those not named Hilton.
The 2008 Aussie Millions champ, Kostritsyn would get Seidel to call his all-in post flop with overcards to Michael's flopped top pair. Seidel never improved, and Kostritsyn will be able to enjoy the remainder of his stay in Australia $1.6 million Aussie Bucks richer.
