Stars and Full Tilt Happenings

First off is PokerStars with their current "Battle of the Planets" which gives those players that prefer SnGs versus the lengthy MTTs and cash games a shot at nearly $3 million worth of prizes. The prizes are split up between which planet you represent (buy-in amount) and are awarded points according to your place of finish within the SnGs (20 tournament blocks). If it's a little confusing check out their solar system mapping on the promotions page (linked above) to show where you can get some of this bonus. As a added bonus, PokerStars is also offering a reload bonus until Wednesday.
It wasn't until I saw the various blue outlined tournament showing on Full Tilt's tournament page that I realized the eighth installment of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series satellites are currently underway. 24 different events, and something new to this series as shown from the Full Tilt website:
FTOPS Tournament of Champions
We've crowned 50 champions so far in our second full year of FTOPS. Twenty-four more players will join this elite group after FTOPS VIII is complete. To find out who's the best of the best, we're gathering all the winners from FTOPS V, VI, VII and VIII together to compete in the Tournament of Champions for the chance to win a free $10K WSOP* Main Event seat.
All of the champions from the second year of FTOPS will be automatically entered into the TOC, which will take place at 15:00 ET (20:00 GMT) on Saturday, May 24th. Prove that you're the best of the best and make your way to Vegas for the Big Dance.
Wow. Also as a surprise if you go to the FTOPS schedule page there's 3 different "Mystery Tournaments", I couldn't find any word on what these entail but signing up for a tournament and finding out the format after it started is definitely a new twist if this is how its going down.
