The second season for the PokerStars' sponsored Asian Pacific Poker Tour started off at the StarWorld Galaxy Hotel and Casino with a big bang as 257 players were shooting for the $500,000 first prize. Long time pro Casey Kastle brought in the big stack to the final eight with 456,000 chips trailed closely by Chong Wing Cheong at 454,000.
Tournament experience like Kastle's who last win came seven years ago at the Legends of Poker tournament series is invalueable, but the cards do the speaking and aggression rules the day especially at the final table where blinds are huge compared the chip stacks in play.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko used his youthful aggression at the final table and turned it into $500,000 while taking down the Macau APPT main event. His 10:1 chip lead, as reported by Pokernews.com again Joon Hee Yeah tells the story of the level of play the 20 year old showed on his way to the title.
Timoshenko – 2,301,000
Yeah – 257,000Yeah wielded his short stack well, doubling through Timoshenko in one of the first hands of heads-up play, but in the end the chip disadvantage and the strong play of Timoshenko was too much for Yeah, and he was eliminated in second place ($250,000).
