The Kosmos Casino and Hotel managed to snag 53 top pros away from the smattering of big tournament going on right now. The Five Diamonds World Poker Tour event at the Bellagio, and the Asian Pacific Poker Tour is concluding its short but successful run with its Grand Finale in Sydney next week.
As for the Moscow Millions, Tony "G" took down yet another title this year as reported by Pokernews.com:
Tony was one of 53 players who arrived at the Kosmos to battle for the biggest share of a prize pool over $500,000. The $10,500 buy-in transferred to $25,000 in starting chips and a generous structure including 90-minute levels, assuring plenty of play for the pros on hand. Tony arrived late - not in Hellmuthian style, but due to a dentist's appointment - and after losing half his stack early, mowed through a succession of opponents before assuming a dominating lead at the final table where a late three-way chop was made. Alex Kravchenko, the emerging Russian star who enjoyed a stellar 2007 WSOP, finished in third for $77,000.
Also noted is that Tony donated his second big paycheck of the year to charity. The Russian orphanages were the recipients of his $205,000 pay check for winning the two day main event. I'm sure I'll be able to do the same once I start playing the high stakes Pot Limit Omaha side games that Tony enjoys. Congrats to the "G"!
