When you're thinking big time live poker tournament places like Paris, Las Vegas, and Southern California come to mind when the bright lights of the World Poker Tour are shown. But to those on the circuit know that Tunica, Mississippi is home to some of the biggest and best poker tournaments.
Located at the Gold Strike Casino, the World Poker Open snared 259 people for the $10,000 buy-in WPT Main Event of which only six remain for the TV final table. As reported by WorldPokerTour.com after Michael Bass' flopped top pair couldn't fade the flush draw and two overs of Freddy Deeb, here's your final table:
With the elimination of Baas, day 3 came to a close, and action is scheduled to start at the final table at 4 p.m. CT tomorrow. Here is a look at the final table seating chart and chip counts:
Seat 1: Freddy Deeb - 1,345,000
Seat 2: Brett Faustman -1,282,000
Seat 3: Men "The Master" Nguyen - 729,000
Seat 4: Gabe Costner - 1,181,000
Seat 5: Hoyt Corkins - 395,000
Seat 6: John Spadavecchia - 256,000
Hoyt Corkins is a former WPT champ, along with WSOP bracelet holder Men "The Master" who made waves by tilting Erick Lindgren out on the tournament when Lindgren was the chipleader before a big hand went down adds star power to the final table. While the tournament won't churn out a millionaire, the $892,413 first place prize plus the $25,000 buy in to the WPT Championship will dangle a big enough carrot for the six finalist to shoot for.
