Vela Defeats the Former Champs at WPT Foxwoods
Nick Schulman and Nenad Medic have been here before. When the last two Foxwoods Poker Finals have finished, they were the ones holding all of the chips and the bricks of cash.

And when the tournament got down to three people they were two eliminations away from hoisting the cash and trophy once again. But, unfortunately the chip leader and eventual champion Mike Vela had something to say about that.

Its true that every tournament champion has a story about far behind in a hand and catching their card(s), and his most important hand has knocking out internet phenom Tom Dwan when Big Slick didn't hold up for Dwan versus the KJ of Vela while Dwan was all-in and a fateful Jack hit the river.

Vela then took he huge chip lead and took out both Medic and Schulman heads-up when presto was not gold versus Vela's AQ, to claim the $1.7 million first prize. Along with the prize money goes a $25,000 entry into the World Poker Tour season ending World Championships at the Bellagio.

For the complete details on the final table head over to WorldPokerTour.com and hit up the entry from Ryan Lucchesi to see Mike Vela's road to victory.
