World Poker Tour Sued by Group of Poker Players
A group of professional poker players including Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, Greg Raymer, Joe Hachem, Phil Gordon, Andy Bloch, and Annie Duke have filed a lawsuit against The World Poker Tour. According to Poker News, the basis of the lawsuit is the release form that all players must sign to participate in WPT Tournaments. The players feel that this release form violates their rights to their image and likeness and is in violation of other endorsement deals that they have signed. This group of players has not participated in any WPT Events in the last year in protest of the release form choosing to play the smaller WSOP Circuit Events instead. The big news from this lawsuit in my opinion, is that a group of players are taking a collective stand on an issue that would benefit all poker players. Could all the money ESPN and Harrah's makes off the WSOP be next?
