WPT Moves to FSN
Filed in archive Television and Radio on July 20, 2008
Whew. As a poker fanboi, but with little time to indulge in watching poker on TV, my DVR needed a new fix when Game Show Network shot down the newest season of the World Poker Tour and continuing the highly rated High Stakes Poker show. Poker After Dark on NBC is on track, of course ESPN will have World Series of Poker highlights (started on July 22nd), but the WPT is what started the current revolution of pokery goodness to the small screen.
WPT CEO Steve Lipscomb recently announced a new home for the slipping giant TV poker (recently announced layoffs). Fox Sports News (FSN) has snapped up the rights for WPT's season number seven to continue pumping out millionaires and rail quips from Vince Van Patten. The boys at Wicked Chops Poker and Raw Vegas interviewed Lipscomb right after the announcement which could get parlayed into some forward momentum after seeing WPT stock hover around a dollar or less for the past year.
