Ted Forrest was a participant in the grand limit hold em heads-up encounter with Beal, and had to use those heads up skills again to win the Shooting Star World Poker Tour event at the Bay 101 Casino. In a slightly different structure "stars" were named before the tourney began and awarded a five thousand dollar bountry to those who eliminated those stars during the tourney.
Not a bad way to retain a buy-in without actually making it far withing the competition, plus it added a little incentive to knock out those wearing the "Shooting Star" t-shirts.
Below is a recap between Forrest and second place finisher J.J. Liu who fell short in her attempt to become the first female winner on the World Poker Tour and was making her second final table appearance:
263. Forrest moves all in and Liu makes the call. Forrest shows 77 and Liu turns over A8. The board comes Q5447 and Ted Forrest wins the hand.
J.J. Liu finishes the tournament in second place and earns $600,000.
Ted Forrest wins the tournament and earns $1,125,000 and a seat to the WPT Championship at the Bellagio.
