WSOP 2008 Event #1: Get Your All-Star Game Jerseys Out
(image from Pokernews.com) The Minnesota Twins are currently coming up short each night in their first series of the year with the superstars of the New York Yankees. I suppose there's a reason why the ballplayers from the Bronx are paid a little more as their ability to come from behind with class and talent has been shown during the games for the past few nights.

Poker is no different, as the stars of the game will make the final table of any given tournament time and time again just because they have been there before, and take a (generally) calm demeanor towards advancing to the big cash spots in the final nine.

According to many sites today (see Friday's post for links to the World Series of Poker online coverage) there's all-star lineup for Event #1's $10,000 buy in Pot-Limit Hold Em' tourney:

From Tao of Poker:

Seat 1: Mike Sowers - 675,000
Seat 2: Chris Bell - 455,000
Seat 3: Amit Makhija - 525,000
Seat 4: Patrik Antonius - 230,000
Seat 5: Andy Bloch - 2,115,000
Seat 6: Mike Sexton - 1,130,000
Seat 7: Phil Laak - 425,000
Seat 8: Nenad Medic - 1,200,000
Seat 9: Kathy Liebert - 285,000

I bet the boys at Wicked Chops will be watching Kathy Liebert very closely today as she is a woman and is just 8 knockouts away from the bracelet.
