WSOP Main Event: Final Nine Set
Filed in archive WSOP News by David Aydt on July 15, 2008
Three tables started the final day in the Amazon Room, and went amazingly fast with the deep stacks compared to the blinds. With 10th place getting $591,869 for his/her effort, the big dollar signs would be signed by those who took home ninth place money today and will return to play for the nine million dollar first prize. Tiffany Michele who came into the day with high hopes as the last woman standing, busted out in 17th place. Bubble boy honors unfortunately went to Dean Hamrick as Craig Marquis' pocket queens held up over the A-J of Hamrick.
Pokernews.com's Amy Calistri has the call from Jack Effel in her feature post found here along with the chip count of the 2008 WSOP ME:
Play slowed appreciably and predictably as no one wanted the dubious honor of final-table bubble boy. Dean Hamrick finally swung for the fences and came up short. Tournament Jack Effel announced the final-table participants to thunderous applause, adding "Players, you may now go on your 117-day break! Good night from the World Series of Poker!"
