WSOP Main Event Underway

Flight 1a on the WSOP Main Event started yesterday with 2138 players playing down to 782 players. It appears that 8,532 players have registered to play the main event with up to 500 alternates standing by to enter the action when a player has been eliminated. The field was broken down into 4 flights of approximately 2200 players because the Rio can only seat up to 2200 players at any given time. The day 1a chip leader was Francis Cipriano with $123,200 in chips. Keep Your Poker Face's own editor, Matt maroon, had a fantastic day 1 ending up with $83,150 in chips good for 14th place. Complete results of day 1a action can be found on Poker Pages.
