According to Yahoo News Harrah's has announced that the buy-in for this years World Series of Poker main eventlinks will be raised in response to the high number of entrants having already won their way in online.

"We've already seen over two thousand players qualify for this year's main event and it's still almost four months away," said World Series of Poker commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. "With a limit of only 8,000 people we fear that, at this rate, the tournament will be sold out by the end of May."

According to Pollack the main event will now have a buy-in of $20,000. "Benny [Binion] would be proud this day," he said. He also said that Harrah's is "considering raising the buy-in further in 2007" if a large enough number of players enter in 2006, possibly to as much as $50,000.

According to Harrah's all entries who have already won or purchased their seat will receive a $10,000 cash refund or 10 $1,000 vouchers good for entry into any WSOP or WSOPC event. To claim yours click here.
